Rouen Overview

This fairly large city situated in the Normandy region of France has approximately 100,000 inhabitants. Rich with history and with culture here second to none, this is a historic treasure chest. The French heroine St. Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake in 1431 by the English in Rouen for heresy. Rouen is also known for its Notre Dame cathedral, which still stands perfectly today. Notre Dame cathedral has been the focus point for the famous painter Claude Monet, which also has his art work on display at various Art galleries throughout this town. The rich history does not deter from the town having modern shops where one can purchase anything from the latest fashion to locally made souvenirs. There is a modern bus service which also incorporates a tram system and a light railway. Plenty of Hotels so suit the needs of a wide variety of people, for those who want 5 star or are working on a budget. Rouen offers the lot.
