We have used the Villa Alessandra on a number of occasions but when we arrived on Tuesday we were advised by the hotel receptionist that there was a problem with our booking and it was not possible for them to accommodate us. We were assured that an alternative reservation had been made for us in the Villa Royale in the Pigalle district of Paris. The hotel was good but the area was awful, full of sex cinemas, clubs, shops and prostitutes. Not somewhere I had planned to spend my birthday. We were very very disappointed.
