Montpellier in the Languedoc-Rousillon region is a university city famed for it wonderful old buildings and its great natural scenery encompassing both coastal and inland areas. The city enjoys warm weather for at least four months of the year (if not six) and is a popular holiday destination with Europeans and domestic visitors alike.

Place de Comedie is one of the city’s most popular areas for meeting, dining and shopping and it is also home to a variety of interesting structures. Few visitors come to Montpellier and miss out on the chance to see this most famous of the city’s sights. The Languedoc-Rousillon region is home to a variety of fascinating old castles (chateaux) that can be reached easily from the centre of Montpellier and make for interesting sightseeing trips.

Montpellier Mediterranee International Airport, the main airport serving the city, maintains a limited number of European connections. For many visitors, it’s necessary to fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport first and then take a domestic flight to Montpellier.
