Monaco Introduction
Perfectly groomed streets, chic designer boutiques, 5 star restaurants, stupendous hotels, and 19th century palaces prevail. Immaculately dressed locals; most of whom settled here from somewhere else, princes and princesses, flashy cars and stilettos are the norm. For the visitor though, you don’t necessarily have to try and compete with this lot, but are welcome to if you can afford it.

The Principality of Monaco is as lavish as it looks on television, neatly resting on the French Riviera, not far from the Italian border, and featuring some of the world’s most exclusive hotel resorts. It’s not all for the jet-set and business crowd, however, and it is possible to rub shoulders with the rich and famous by watching your budget and not shopping and dining exclusively.

There’s more to Monaco than exclusive hotels and the Grand Prix, and there’s plenty to do for families with kids. Sailing and the Grand Prix are naturally very popular, while a golf course and the Oceanographic Museum further the scope for fun.

Nice Côte-d'Azur International Airport, to the west of Monaco, is the main gateway for most visitors to the principality. Flights come in here from all over the world from the likes of London, Amsterdam, Dublin and Los Angeles, and its two terminals have all modern facilities, ATMs and shopping. If for some reason you can’t get a flight to Nice, Marseille and Turin, which also have airports, are within reach.
