Known as a tax haven and playground for the rich, and for its varied nightlife, the tiny city-state of Monaco, surrounded by France, is blessed for it Mediterranean setting and a temperate climate. Hotels tend to be pricey, so let HotelTravel.com do the booking for you.

The Principality of Monaco is as lavish as it looks on television, neatly resting on the French Riviera, not far from the Italian border, and featuring some of the world’s most exclusive hotel resorts. It’s not all for the jet-set and business crowd, however, and it is possible to rub shoulders with the rich and famous by watching your budget and not shopping and dining exclusively.
There’s more to Monaco than exclusive hotels and the Grand Prix, and there’s plenty to do for families with kids. The most obvious attraction is the city state’s beaches and although most belong to hotels, there is a decent public beach. Sailing and the Grand Prix are naturally very popular, while a golf course and the Oceanographic Museum further the scope for fun.
All four of Monaco’s districts offer something of merit to tourists: the old town (Monaco Ville) has all the charm and major attractions; Monte Carlo has the casino and flashiest restaurants; La Condamine the even flashier port and harbour; and industrial Fontvieille has mid-range hotels and a fine park.

Nice Côte-d'Azur International Airport, to the west of Monaco, is the main gateway for most visitors to the principality. Flights come in here from all over the world from the likes of London, Amsterdam, Dublin and Los Angeles, and its two terminals have all modern facilities, ATMs and shopping. If for some reason you can’t get a flight to Nice, Marseille and Turin, which also have airports, are within reach.
