Aix En Provence Transport
Airports
Marseille Provence Airport is the main point of entry to Aix en Provence and lies midway between the two cities. As one of France’s largest airports, it sees millions of passengers arrive on numerous flights from all over the world each year. Facilities include ATMs and currency exchange at the twin-terminal facility. If you can’t find a flight here, both Nice and Lyon have international airports and are within reach.
Transport options from Marseille Provence Airport to Aix include an airport shuttle, which runs every 30 minutes, and 24-hour taxi service. Those who hire cars at the airport can reach Aix En Provence by taking the D9 highway and the A51 motorway.
Public Transport
Should you need to use the public transport in Aix, which is not really necessary unless you plan on having a look around the surrounding countryside, there is an efficient bus network. Buses run all over the place and take in all of Aix’s suburbs, and the main bus station, Gare Routière, is in the town centre.
Discounted bus tickets are available for frequent users and can be purchased at the bus station, while discounted multi-pack tickets are also available for travel between Aix and Marseille. Car hire is popular in Aix En Provence, although it can be tough to park in the city centre, with its many pedestrianised streets.
