We made the reservation via internet a few months ago. We came with babies, baby stroller and luggage. We received rooms in the old building. In order to get to the old building we had to walk to the end of the corridor, go down the stairs one and a half flours (no elevator!!), walk through an old corridor beneath the road (around 100 meters) to the old building and then take the elevator to our rooms. We asked for an easier way to get to our rooms since we're with the stroller and babies etc. - there is no elevator. We asked for help with the luggage (we offered to pay for it) - the reply was that it was impossible because they need to know in advance but they promised that upon checkout help will be provided.
The rooms were located at the very end of the corridor. It was small and unsuited for a family. We then asked to be relocated to the main building but were answered with a refusal. The staff said that the rooms in the main building were not suited for families since it has only double rooms and suits (?). Since the journey to our rooms was too difficult for us (one of us is 7 month pregnant and the babies cant walk), we wanted to upgrade for a suite and pay only the difference but were refused. They said that we must pay for a suite a whole price and then claim a refund from the agency we made the reservation in. I must say that we saw many families who WERE located in the main building despite what we have been told that families cannot be located in the main building. Anyway we can’t understand the logic in locating the most handicapped in the worst location but this is a different story.
The day before our checkout we asked for help with the luggage for the checkout since they have said that they need notice in advance. The rude reply we received was that they will not bother the bell-boy for two families! We were not surprised by the rudeness of the staff nor from their lies to us but still, we think it is inappropriate.
We ordered the rooms after seeing them in your internet site. The rooms we received were not even remotely similar to what you have published in your site.
The staff attitude was offensive, the rooms location was a big disappointment but the bigger disappointment was the staffs rudeness, bad attitude and lies we have been told.
The playroom for childrens was ok, however it was very far from our rooms (that were far from everything).
We must say again and again it is senseless and even mean to locate families with babies and pregnant women in room that are inaccessible.
No doubt that we will never return to Rantasipi Pohjanhovi Hotel or any of the other Rantasipi hotels, we will tell everyone we know about this unpleasant experience and publish through the web a recommendation not to go to this lousy hotel.
This has never happened to us in any Sokos hotel. We don’t know why we tried the Rantasipi this time but surely we will not do this mistake twice.
