Bula Festival
Nadi’s main festival includes parades and beauty pageants to help celebrate their unique identity as a town. Nadi is known for its horseracing.

Constitution Day
This public holiday honours the day when Fiji first adopted its constitution.

Prophet Mohammed’s birthday
Muslims in Fiji mark this special day with ceremonies and celebrations at the mosques and private homes around the islands.

Sugar Festival
Lautoka’s main festival of the year celebrates its unique identity with a parade and beauty pageant, as residents celebrate the pride in their town, which is the sugar capital of Fiji.

Fiji Day
The week leading up to Fiji Day is called Fiji Week, with religious and cultural ceremonies celebrating the country’s diversity.

Diwali
The Hindu Festival of Lights is a major event for the Indo-Fijian community. Small oil lamps adorn houses and streets and an air of merriment permeates the islands.

Hibiscus Festival
This is Suva’s main celebration, with a big parade, beauty pageant and lots of music, dancing, eating and drinking.

Christmas
As in all Christian countries, the local Fijian community celebrates this annual event with the standard array of family gatherings, parties and gift giving.
