After having read reviews that the standard rooms are rather small at this hotel, we booked online and then phoned to arrange a room upgrade about six weeks before our stay. Upon arrival the receptionist at first failed to act on this upgrade information and then only had a smoking room available of the larger size. We ended up staying in the standard room, which was fine and a decent size after all. Another niggle was the keycards for the doors. On several occasions we had to traipse all the way back to reception to have our cards reprogrammed because we couldn't get into our room.
Having said this there were many positives. The concierge staff were great, the beds comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. I'd definitely go back again, but would make doubly sure that they had a proper record of my booking well in advance.
