Hurghada Airport is a small airport with a single-terminal that receives limited international flights from prominent European cities. Most tourists will route through Cairo International Airport, which lies a few hundred miles to the north of Hurghada. Facilities at Hurghada Airport include ATMs, shops and restaurants. Taxis and hotel shuttles provide transport to town and hotels.

Some tourists choose to stop at Cairo International Airport and then transfer overland to Hurghada by bus or train. You could even have a hire car pre-booked online at Cairo Airport and then drive the couple hundred miles. The short domestic flight to Hurghada Airport from Cairo and car hire pick up there is the better option, though.
The Hurghada public transport network is a bit thin on the ground and consists of minibuses and taxis. Minibuses are cheap, with fixed prices and will stop anywhere en-route. Simply flag one down. Taxis are less frequently used in Hurghada due to the ease of getting a minibus and the added cost, although tourists prefer the convenience of a taxi.

Taxis are, however, un-metered and it is best to check with your hotel as to general taxi fares and then agree a price with the driver before getting in one. Car hire is another option for getting around, especially when venturing into the desert, and booking online is possible.
