Rated #12 for all Cairo hotels
Fantastic location 1Km from Pyramids. Great views of pyramids from bedrooms and from pool. Good choice of food outlets. Great service. Large well furnished room. Lifts were unreliable (but being replaced). View of pyramids from room somewhat ruined by ugly hotel rooftop. Bank, ATM, gym, shops everything.
Top notch. Extremely friendly and helpful at all times. They really made you feel like a vip. Pool was nice for the kids and had nice pyramid views. Perfect location. 1km from Pyramids and only 20mins from Cairo center. Limo service in hotel but cheap cabs readily available just ouside. Hote...

One of the best features of the hotel was the excellent service of the staff - nothing was too much trouble. Also we found the concierge desk very helpful and informative.

Not very hot on entertainment, the hotel was popular with local families and there was a wedding or two most nights. The foyer was used which impacted on the ability to have any other entertainment. It was very interesting to see the weddings though.
Not very much to do outside the hotel in this area, although the local taxis were cheep and plentifull. Excellent service and excellent staff.

Le Meridien is in desperate need of renovation. Smelly and hot lobbies, very scary elevators and rancid carpets and upholstery...this is what we found on the "Club Royal" floor. Pity the people in their standard rooms! The food and service is good though and our Pyramid view excellent...but for the price..the Oberoi Mena House is waaaay better.

Hotel is beside the Cairo-Alexandria main road, constant egyptian traffic (lots of horn-honking).

The lobby and public areas are very spacious and the staff extremely helpful and very friendly. There is a wide choice of restaurants on site and the food quite good. There is a nightly live band in the lobby.
The club lounge facilities- free wireless internet and wonderful fresh snacks, regularly changed -free wine during happy hour- are well worth the extra cost. The lounge is very comfortable with a full view of the pyramids nearby.
The bedrooms were slightly disappointing as we had asked for a double bed and were given two singles. The standard of furnishings were more four star and needed upgrading, contrary to what the webside shows-also in reality are smaller.
The swimming pool area is pleasant, the gym tiny but adequate. Fantastic location as is very close to the pyramids, sphynx. Excellent consierge -good knowledge of Cairo- good help with day trips.
Room small-furniture old, tacky no tea or coffee facilities. Gym not very modern or enough equipment, no jaccuzi, etc. The staff were incredibly curteous, charming, caring , helpful and friendly, always smiling and giving you attention.
Variety-would food have liked Asian; Chinese, Indian on site, good Egyptian.
Consierge helped organise it very efficiently. Same band played same tunes every night. Small pool for size of hotel- not enough area around pool or beds. No garden- only pool area- limited.
Right near the pyramids, sphynx, etc.

We rated the location as awful not because it sits at the base of the pyramids which is a spectacular location, but rather because the suburbs that surround the hotel are somewhat like a garbage tip and anyone who took a moment out of their organised tour to go walkabout would agree that much of the area is disgraceful.
We both ate at the buffet the entire time we were at the hotel and drank bottled water. The only time we partook of the local water was when it was used to wash produce in the kitchen and when it was used in ice cubes or a mixer with drinks. This was enough to give both my partner and I severe food poisoning and we are still taking medication to correct this. The treating physician in Greece informed us that this is common from Egypt but there are no warnings on the bathrooms, eating areas or bars; no information about the water quality at the hotel was supplied by the hotel to us.
