my wife and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in may 2009, and found the staff very helpful. the area is quite safe. no public transport ,but the hotel displays taxi prices to many places in the city and airport at a board at the front of building and there`s always a taxi outside. only used breakfast facilities and the bar, both very good .would stay there again . we walked in to the city a couple of times ,about 20 minutes walk...

We stayed for 5 nights and were very happy with the service. The road out side is a little noisy but we were use to it after the first night. The location was great as we had a supermarket, internet cafe and laundry across the road. We would stay here again if we came back to Egypt.

Hotel was the worst and worst value of the 4 we stayed in in Egypt. Rooms were big with big beds and nice furniture. However bathrooms were badly decorated and baths/showers were delapidated. Staff were aloof, and unfriendly (strange for Egypt) when we checked in but subsequently were more cheerful and helpful. Rooms were b ig and nicely furnished. Beds were very big. However pillows were mouldyand the bathrooms were a bit delapidated. No swimming pool of kids recreation facilities. Staff were unfriendly at check-in but better later. We only used the bar but the hotel f&B outlets seemed good. Mouldy pillow was a real turn-off. On island in the nile. About 10 mins from central cairo. McDonalds, Pizza Hut right beside it. Taxi rank outside. In up-market suburb of Cairo. Quite quiet.

We had the impression the Golden Tulip Flamenco doesn't deserve the mostly positive reviews we read on the hotel. We stayed there twice in May 2007 and both rooms (standard twin) were run down wtih several things not working (hairdryer, light, etc.). Furniture were also damaged. Furthermore, the rooms are badly isolated with a lots of street noise even on the 10th floor (with closed windows). The official rate of 110 Dollar per night (stated in the rooms) is far over-priced. On the plus side: Pizza Hut, McDonald's, 24h supermarket and Internet Café are all within 30. sec. walking distance from the hotel.
