Rated #3 for all Alexandria hotels
When I arrived, they wanted to put me in another Hotel 20 minutes from town, but I stood my ground and they reluctantly gave me a room..They did offer me their 5 star resort, but I would be too far away and I wasn't looking for a resort feel.. Room are clean and good size. Old fashioned hotel..loved the alfresco area out front..get a good view of the locals. Had no complaints about service at all..in fact they usually remember your name...more than most 5 star places.
Only eat in hotel...was reasonably good. Supplied a car and driver...promised he could speak english but could not...we made...

Lovely old world hotel in a very good location and beautifully restored elevator. Unfortunately rooms need some attention. Bathroom ceiling caved in during stay! Breakfast was hideous.

Point 2 - The standard of the room was good, except that the traffic noise on the Corniche was evident (not the hotel's fault but the local Egyptian driving culture of continuous hooting).Point 4 - The buffet breakfast was good and the view at breakfast time from the roof terrace was magnificent. The hotel is an old lady now, so there is a slight touch of faded glory. Still worth consideration for the glimpses of the glory.

Elevators antiquated and prone to breakdown. Room was very elegant with full ocean view. Breakfast on the 6th floor terrace was lovely.

Old building, elevators barely working, smelly room, smelly bathroom, unprofessional staff. Excellent location. If the customer wants to extend the stay they try to rip off (they asked me $190/night for a single room).

A black/white TV. A sign that says, don't throw paper in the toilet, but provides paper? The desk clerk couldn't always answer my questions. The wait staff were not always fully trained. Some were excellent, though. The location is enviable. Alexandria is lovely, historic, etc. but too many of the local folks want to rip you off. It makes one very wary.

A charming period hotel and excellent for those who want a seaside and downtown location. Lacking a number of faclities but this doesn't distract from it's charm and location. Breakfast could do with livening up as it is basic and a simple buffet style.

Staff was very friendly; room was fine, altho' dark. (i didn't pay for a sea view). Only complaint was the breakfast. The service was slow, food was not good and I would expect better coffee from the Windsor!

Only eat in hotel...was reasonably good. Supplied a car and driver...promised he could speak english but could not...we made it through ok and he was helpful...but remember in Egypt everyone wants their cut..best not to let then enter a store with you because all you buy will then have his cut added.
