If you’re looking for the heart of Europe, you’ll find it in the Czech Republic. This is the land of real spirit, where folk traditions have survived through the ages, where a plethora of castles and chateaux fill visitors with wonder and awe. From the Golden City of Prague to the glorious peaks of the High Tatras, the sensations and the warmth of its people leave unforgettable impressions. Classic hotels, breathtaking beauty, and a tourist-friendly infrastructure make Czech, in many ways, a traveller’s dream destination.
Castles
The entire family will have fun exploring the many castles as you travel through the country. Prague Castle, home of ancient royalty, is also the site upon which Prague was founded in the 9th century. It is a huge complex, encompassing a massive Gothic cathedral, old palaces, courtyards, gardens and museums. If you’re visiting in summer, be sure to tour the castle in the evening – it is truly an unforgettable experience. Also in Prague is Vysehrad Castle, where you can enjoy fantastic views of the Vltava River.
Beltine Festival of Celtic Culture (Bohemia)
This festival promises fun for all ages. Taking place every year from 30 April, 20:00 until 1 May, 12:00noon, this non-stop festival runs for 16 hours through the night. Celtic music, dance performances, martial arts, workshops, games, a children’s programme, crafts, food and much more all take place in selected castles and chateaux in Cheb, West Bohemia.
Bohemia is a region consisting of beautiful and unusual wilderness, vineyards, spa resorts, small villages and eclectic cities. The region is divided into north, south, east, west and central Bohemia, each one with a unique environment.
Air
The national airline is Czech Airlines (OK) and there are other several small airlines as well. The International airport is Prague Ruzyne (PRG), 20km from the city.
