Paphos, a historic city surrounded by ancient myths, is located on the southwest coast of Cyprus and has recently been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Archaeological sites are Paphos’s main attractions and include the Archaeological Park, a medieval castle and the Temple of Aphrodite. There are a number of museums detailing the city’s rich history as well as ancient art and relics. Other attractions include the beach, the surrounding scenery and the famous Roman mosaics that have been discovered here.
The city boasts a wide range of hotels with plenty of options to suit every budget. Some of the top hotels have excellent facilities, with business and conference centres to boot, and others feature lively discos and high-class restaurants.

Most hotels throughout the city are family friendly, with many attractions to keep children occupied, and are located in the lower-town district, close to the seafront. If you are after luxury, head to the hotels on the beach promenade. Book online in advance if you plan to travel in peak season (June to August).

Paphos is home to an international airport, which despite its small size receives daily charter flights from the UK and Western Europe. If you are arriving on an international scheduled flight from farther afield, you will fly into Larnaca Airport, from where you will have to make an onward connection to Paphos. There is an excellent bus service linking both towns, or you can take a taxi or hire a car.

Paphos boasts a year-round good climate with long, hot summers and warm winters. Spring and autumn are generally very short with warm days and cooler nights. However, during these shoulder seasons the weather can change dramatically so jumpers are adviseable. Spring and autumn are the perfect time of year to visit if you are looking for peace and quiet; the best bargains to be had can also be found during these months.
Summers begin in May and run all the way through until October. Temperatures at the height of summer are in the 40s°C although the average is around 35°C. In the summer months there is very little rain, which usually falls in winter. Winter lasts from December to February with average temperatures at around 15°C. The sun generally shines and nights although cool, are rarely cold.
