Varadero Beach is the big draw, with its long, white sands and warm waters, and it is well within reach of many of the resort’s finest hotels. Varadero also has an ecological park, a popular dolphinarium, impressive caves, and pleasant parks. Josone Park is a big hit and is ideal for those extra-hot days, with its shady areas and walking.

Bellamar Caves
Varadero’s oldest attraction and Cuba’s deepest known caves are popular and ideal for those with kids. Bellamar Caves proper are fairly deep underground and you have to clamber down more than 150 steps to get to the main chambers. They are not for the faint-hearted as spaces are tight and it gets quite humid but the trek is well worth the effort. You will find the entrance to Bellamar Caves by a small mining out-house.

Dolphinarium (Delfinario)
Although considered cruel by some parties, Varadero’s Dolphinarium is a big hit with tourists, who can get to swim with these serene creatures. Delfinario is located outside town, near Chapelín Marina at Autopista Sur Km 12, and features a 40-minute dolphin show four times daily and 15-minute swimming session. It does get pretty busy here so is best to come early.

Varadero Beach (Playa Las Calaveras)
Varadero Beach, Playa Las Calaveras, is by far and away the main attraction in Varadero and the reason why so many flock to this part of Cuba. The sand is lovely and white, the water warm year-round and the weather is mostly sublime. This is easily Cuba's finest beach and there are plenty of shacks where you can buy refreshments.
Varadero Ecological Park (Parque Ecologico Varahicacos)
Varadero Ecological Park is one for the culture-vulture and walkers with its protected areas and miles of easy paths. The park is located towards the eastern end of the peninsula and is one of scrub forests pockmarked by small caves. If you explore you will find some of the caves contain ancient pictographs. There are two parts to the park with the smallest bit near to the main tourist areas.
