Grape Harvest Ceremony is celebrated in Avignon - the capital of the Cotes du Rhone region of France: one of the country’s most prestigious wine-growing regions. Following the grape harvest, the first wine of the year is produced by early in September. The wine can be tasted at booths set up in the square outside Avignon's Popes' Palace (Palais des Popes). The introduction of the first wine following the harvest takes place with the accompaniment of live music and theatre, jugglers and other street performers.
