Xiamen Introduction

Xiamen is probably most famous for its beautiful seascape. Also called the 'Gateway to China', this bustling city is a favourite destination of visitors to China. The city offers a wide selection of hotels including numerous big-chain luxury hotels as well as a plethora of less expensive lodging for travellers on a budget. Xiamen also has a vibrant nightlife and a superb restaurant scene with both local cuisine and international gastronomy offered.

Located in Fujian province on China’s southeast coast, Xiamen’s appeal to visitors has as much to do with its proximity to the sea as with its century-old colonial architecture. The city has been one of the country’s major seaports for hundreds of years and features a deep water port that is open year-round due to the favourable climate. The name 'Xiamen' mean 'Gate to China’.
