The rooms were o.k., although very old (carpet!) and rather worn down (and no non smoking rooms available). But basically kept very clean. It smells strongly from old smoke when you enter the lobby which is why we didn t feel like going to the restaurant which is right next to the reception. The staff is very unfriendly but will provide you with the requested information finally. Location of the hotel is very good, right next to people square and only about 15 minutes from this underground station. I am not sure I d go back there since I reckon it should be possible to get better value for that money in Shanghai.

The hotel is in a great location, right next to the subway, 15 minutes walk from the Bund and the French Quarter, and surrounded by plenty of decent cheap restaurants. Although the beds were very hard, the room as a whole was comfotable enough. The location, and price, are definitely the hotels best points.
