Great hotel! Very nice location, right in the middle of the shopping district and walking distance to just about everything! The food was amazing and the buffet had almost endless selection. We were very happy with our stay here and highly recommend it! Location and price can't be beat. We wish that the price of breakfast was included in the room, but can't complain too much!...

The hotel is in a great location, but you could get a better hotel for less money a little further away. The rooms are clean but have an old dingy feeling with stained carpets. The staff is not very accomodating, as in they have a set of rules and were not flexible, even for guests who had been there for 5 nights. Also, their english is pretty bad.

We were offered an upgrade room for extra USD 50 per night - but stayed with original which looked over the next door building site and had not been upgraded for a while. The bathroom was pretty mouldy and the bath leaked, but the towels were soft and the water hot. The bed was very comfortable and the block out curtains very efficient. Some noise from other guests / staff in the coridor in the morning. Breakfast pleasant with good options, coffee nasty! Front desk staff had limited English and sometimes were 'snappy', or hard to understand, or not complete in their explanation of what was happening. However, they were usually pleasant. Definately not a business hotel! Pleasant as a low cost, well located hotel in a bustling city.

I like this web site, and booked two/twin beds at Park Hotel Shanghai hotel on June 2009. By the time we arrived, we were told that only one bed was booked, if we need change it to twin beds, need to upgrade. SO we had to pay double the $$ in order to have twin beds.

Though the hotel is relatively old, the room is clean and the facilities maintained. Since we only stayed here for the night and breakfast, the hotel is perfectly allright. I am happy I chose this hotel as the location is convenient to the shopping area in Nanjing and around the area, you can find small food establishments for lunch and dinner reasonably priced like chicken pot, noodles and dumplings. The staff are courteuous and helpful. I should say we got the value of what we paid for.

Strenght : official time for check out is 12am but possibility of staying until 1.30pm without extra payment Weaknesses : - 1 lady at the reception counter not welcoming and nice AT ALL !!! - we were sharing a room in 3 but only had 2 towels ... : we had to remind the staff 2 nights in a row to bring us an extra towel - rooms quite noisy : we heard the water from the room above, the noise from the corridor outside

When you enter the hotel you immediately get the feeling of bad atmosphere, service and maintenance. The staff is unfriendly, seemed stressed and did speak poor English. The rooms smelled damp, lots of spots on the carpets and the furniture is not worth talking about. We had made reservations for a non-smoking room, we changed the room two times, finally had to ask for the manager and then, it was possible to get a non-smoking room on the 12th floor. Two floors are being reconstructed, so be aware of loud sounds and noises starting seven o’clock in the morning. I will definitively not recommend the hotel to anybody. However – the location is good, but taxis and transportation is cheap, so my best recommendation is to choose a hotel 3 – 5 km away from the centre.

It is an old looking hotel which does not qualify for a 4 star rating. The hotel looks dark and dirty and the bed is awful.

Relied on business centre and staff for access to internet and help with airport information, provided with friendliness but some language difficulties (English). Otherwise wholly satisfied.

Great location across from People's Park, Shanghai Museum on Nanjing Road. Hotel was in very good condition for its age. Classic style building. Good room. Classical style not modernist. I would recommend as a good place to stay.

Very good location - metro stop with a couple of metro lines is just across the road. Room is a decent size but beds are rather hard. The room feels a bit old, but everything is in good working order (e.g. good water pressure for shower). Room and furnishings are a bit old. Bed is hard. Decent-sized room. Quiet as room was not facing the main road. Check-in and check-out were painless. The carpet looked old. Bathroom does not look pristine white and squeaky clean, but probably due to the age of the hotel rather than housekeeping. Overall cleanliness is acceptable. Metro line 2 is just across the road. Easy to hop the Maglev from the airport, change to line 2 and arrive just outside the hotel. Opposite the road from a metro stop with a couple of lines. Easy to get to most places. Proximity to a metro stop is important as there are bad traffic jams in Shanghai. Staff able to provide information on travel time, estimated cost of taxi rides.

1) Room Service : The Room Service people we met didn't have a good level of English. It was difficult to communicate by phone when we asked for a Breakfast in our room (some things were forgotten). We expected a better English level a such an International Hotel, located in this central area. 2) Reception : We asked the Reception to book seats for the "Shanghai Circus". It was quite difficult to explain them and to have the answer to know if seats were available. 3) Concierge : We booked in advance a taxi for a one-day journey. The taxi driver was more than 45 minutes late. Nevertheless, we had a pleasant stay in this hotel, perfectly located in Shanghai

This hotel had a very nice location. Halfway between the market and the walking street. For an old hotel, it showed it's age (furnishing, carpet etc) but the shower was great and the room was clean. I was surprised the staff didn't speak better english, but it was good enough that we could understand each other. I'd say, if you want to stay downtown Shanghai, at a clean and reasonably priced hotel. Then this is a good selection.

Park Hotel is convenient since it is almost just across the Metro train station. Also, it is clean. My family was very happy to see two small complimentary bottles of mineral water everyday. About the beggars hanging outside the hotel that I have read in a review before I went to Shanghai, they are not there anymore. What I don't like is the exorbitant fee that the business center charge.

Right across the people's square. Many local, international restaurant nearby. Huge room compared to any standard. Money-worth price, but fairly old (historic) hotel, well maintained though.

Park Hotel is an ideally located hotel as it is at the heart of the shopping area in downtown Shanghai. The sad thing about it is that the taxis from the maglev station are not familiar with the place as clearly the address does not identify its place on Nanjing Road i.e. on the west side. The hotel coffee shop was not operating when we arrived to take our lunch. We had to go to the 2nd floor restaurant for it. The same can be said of the breakfast arrangement. The breakfast menu offer wasn't anything spectacular as we ate the same thing for the 3 breakfasts we took there. The fresh fruits selection was actually limited to just pineapple. The western fare was also so limited. The amount paid for a room and use of the facilities was at a very good price for the time of stay.
