This hotel should be looked at from two angles. If you pay a little extra for an executive room on floors 19-25 then you get a good sized room with modern furnishings, comfortable bed, shower and bath, flat screen TV, mini bar, free internet etc. etc. Clean and attractive. If you book an other rooms (including the suites) on the lower floors, then you get a small room, slightly old and run down with a cramped bathroom and none of the comforts experienced a few floors above.I stayed at the JiuLong Hotel in March 2009 on business. My first 2 nights were in an executive 'King' room on the 19th Floor. Very comfortable, good standard of facilities. Room service menu a bit limited and rather expensive but overall, worth the money (I payed about £75 a night). Huge bed and a window overlooking the whole city of Shanghai including the Bund in the distance. Not much traffic noise despite the dual carriageway running past the hotel.
I then travelled down the coast for one night and returned to the JiuLong for one last night before flying back to the UK. I booked a suite on the 15th floor. On arriving at the room there was a slight smell of mould on entering the room. The room was split into 2 connecting halves, a work/sitting area and a bedroom with bathroom en suite. The work area was spartan with old furnishings and no safe. The bedroom was small and slightly dirty, the bed was as hard as rocks and the bathroom tiny and smelly with a shower only.I upgraded to a room on the 19th floor, paid an extra £20 and had another good night..
