Very good hotel - as you would expect for a 5 Star. Good location and facilities, the Business Centre was extremely helpful. Only a couple of criticisms: I would have expected fresh orange juice for breakfast, not reconstituted, and fresh milk rather than sterilized. Minor, but nevertheless disappointing. The room was excellent, the service good and overall excellent value. I would recommend.

Good Location, 50m to Underground Mass Transit.
Good Breadfast Buffet.
Bathroom good size but Shower enclosure poor design, gaps between glass door and door jamb and floor kerb too big, floor very wet.
Cupboard insufficient.
Landscaping: Failure. Just some simple garden lighting and adding some trres and scrubs would change and upgrade this vast empty field to a very pleasant garden.
Time to do major upgrading.

The hotel is situated in a very convenient place in the center. The buildings are older but in good shape and overall it has a nice classic atmosphere. Our garden view room on the 11th floor had windows which still could open to see the yard and street. On the same premises are a convention center and the hotel is devided in the North building - the Cathay Bldg and South building - the Cathay Garden. Parralel to Moa Ming Road is an inner passage road giving access to a number of good clothes, taylor shops and restaurants. The inner garden is surrounded by buildings hiding the fact that you are in the center of a buzzing city.

The location was excellent. The room was a touch on the small size for an executive room. The buffet in the evening was excellent but the cost of a coke (38 RMB) was outrageous. At least they did give you one glass of beer or wine for free! Excellent breakfast, wonderful dinner. Right in the centre of the old French Concession.

I was in Shanghai for business for two weeks. The hotel had lovely rooms, big and comfortable and tastefully decorated, an excellent range of facilities, and all set in a beautiful leafy compound. The perfect location for reaching all parts of Shanghai. I could not have enjoyed my stay more. I enjoyed it, I actually liked going back to my room in the evening, most unusual in a hotel, I felt at home there.
