WE HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE HOTEL. IT WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL, AND IN AN EXCELLENT LOCATION. THE ROOMS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE, LARGE AND CLEAN. THE STAFF WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP YOU IN ANY WAY THEY COULD. THE STAFF ALSO SET UP ALL OUR GUIDED TOURS , WHICH CAME RIGHT TO THE HOTEL TO PICK US UP. THE BUFFET THAT THE HOTEL PUT OUT FOR EACH MEAL WAS HUGE, WITH EVERYTHING FROM TRADITIONAL CHINESE FOOD TO WESTERN FOOD, ALL VERY DELICIOUS ! THERE IS ALSO A CAKE SHOP AND ANOTHER RESTAURANT ON THE PREMISES TO EAT AT. THEY HAVE A COCKTAIL AREA, IF YOU WOULD LIKE A QUICK DRINK, OR EVEN IF YOU WO...

A very good fancy alternative to big names like the Hyatt for a much more reasonable price!! Almost no foreign guests though, mostly Chinese, and as such they are not quite as ready to answer questions in English and/or about tourist needs. Was very happy with my stay, however.

A very pleasant surprise, as the "other" Jian Guo Hotel (a mile East) is getting on in age: The Jian Guo Garden offered a very fine room at a very modest (internet travel agency) rate: its five stars are desrved.

We had a Deluxe room that was very spacious and clean. The staff was very kind and helpful. The location was fantastic. If you enjoy walking it's a straight shot (35 min walk) to the Forbidden City going west or a 25 min straight shot walk to the Silk Market going east. Also the subway is VERY close and extremely user friendly and dirt cheap. A ride to the Forbidden City takes 10 min and cost around 30 cents US. Also, through the concierge, we hired a driver for the day to take us to the Great Wall. We had him for the whole day, the car was comfortable and the cost was only 800 RMB. All-in-all well worth it and much cheaper than what some of my friends paid. On the less than positive side, the morning buffet was only ok. They had a sign that said waffles and an empty plate that sat in front of the sign. Every once in a while a stray waffle would hit that plate and then disappear in a flash. Strange that I never actually saw anyone making the waffles. The food that was available was not great but adequate. Also, the gym... not much to right home about in that area, a few free weights, a couple of old machines and one or two treadmills. No elipticals if that's your thing. For the price, this hotel simply could not be beat. A solid 4 star place. The people wer VERY friendly and helpful. Their English might not have been the best but it was far better than my Mandarin. While the room service menue was fairly limited the food was good. The afternoon tea was very nice as well. Everything within walking distance and the subway location was perfect. Taxis always available, car and driver rental for the day was very well priced, and underground mass transit rail was VERY close and a great choice.

We had ordered a no smoking room and maybe this is what we got however people in the neighbouring rooms were smoking with their doors open. The door out of our room was not noise or smoke isolating so sometimes the smoke entereded our room that way.

Liked most: room was okay for three adults, concierge was super, happy hour was super, staff was really attentive, location was excellent. Liked least: lack of air flow, air filtration and temperature control in room. It was hard to get air flow without making the room hot. It would be nice to filter out smog, etc.

This hotel has a fabulous breakfast (western and Asian food). The staff is very friendly and spoke good English. The location is very close to the Dongdan subway station, so getting around is very convenient. It's also near the Oriental Plaza Mall which is very nice and has many good restaurants and stores. In all, I would use the Jianquo Garden again. The only negative was the lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim.

Some notes about this hotel. You must pay an additional 20RMB per hour for internet access. Also, at least while I was there they had the AC off in the entire hotel and my room would not get cool enough, even with the window open. Another concern is the amount of construction going on in Beijing. They work all night long and if you need quite to sleep you certainly cannot leave your window open all night.

Stayed with my hubby in Oct 07 for 3 nights (we are in our late 30ties, proffessionals, well travelled, originally from Europe but currently live and work in Singapore, ussually staying in 4-5* hotels). We had a standard room on 8th non-smoking floor, which was clean and with the most confortable and the bigest super king size bed!Excelent buffet breakfast was included in our U$110 price/night. We checked quickly at 9am with no problems and no extra charge. All staff was extremely polite and helpfull, and they were all speaking a good English. Location of hotel is also excelent , as it is close to major tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping, and is in a big, well known street, so we did not have a problem with taxi drivers finding it (keep in mind that no taxi driver speak english and do not know how to read the map, so you must have it all written in chinese-provided from hotel). Bad sides were: swimming pool area need complete refurbishing and was very could there. Also, if you want to use gym-you have to pay for it! Room doors and bathrooms could be in a better shape (talking about details). We drunk two 1/2l bottels of water standing on a desk in our room and a small chocolate bar from the fridge and were charged U$10! Overall, I would rate it as a very good 3,5* hotel and would definitelly stay here again if do not want to spend more money on accommodation. (Please note that in the same street, there is another Jianguao Hotel, but that one has no 'Garden' in its

Our stay at Jianguo Garden Hotel was a great experience. The hotel was in a great location - about 15 min walk to Tiannamen Square. The room was very clean and the buffet breakfast was fantastic. If we went to Bejing again, we would definitely consider staying at Jianguo Garden Hotel again. Thank You.

At first I thought this hotel was not well located as there appear to be no shops around it (there is in fact a good grocery shop about 5 minutes walk out the back of the hotel). However I soon realised that Beijing is massive and in fact this is on a road that soon gets you to to the main tourist spots and the excellent Silk Market is on the same road a few blocks away (only a cheap 10 yuan taxi ride). The reception area of the hotel is vast and nice to be in. The American breakfast buffet is excellent - great variety and very well done - include this in your package. Concierge and door staff very helpful and good english. Some things about the hotel: 1. Not good signage around the hotel as to where things are located and there is no directory booklet in your room - need to ask at Concierge but soon get to know; 2. Take a swimming cap and jandals as you're not allowed in the pool area without them; 3. There are no travel brochures at the Hotel Travel Bureau, in fact these are hard to find anywhere in Beijing. Get all the info you need off websites before you arrive or www.virtualtourist.com ; 4. The business centre only had one working computer for emails when we were there; 5. There is a large construction site behind the hotel which goes 24/7. It's not that loud but take air plugs or ask for a high floor room facing the front of the hotel. 6. The 8th floor is the non smoking floor; 7. There is an excellent Mongolian Restaurant immediately behind the Hotel where y

I opted for the upgrade to a deluxe room, and it was huge. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The hotel was undergoing major renovations, but in no way did it prevent me from enjoying my stay. I hope that once the hotel is renovated, the rates will not increase to such a degree as to prevent me from staying there again. I would recommend it to anyone. Beijing is huge. This is an excellent location. Post office right across the street, some really interesting side streets right behind the hotel.

Bright, clean, cheerful, comfortable. Many amenities. Excellent buffet breakfast (get a deal where it is included). Convenient. Subway a few minutes away. Double-paned windows keeps out noise. Work on exterior and building of outdoor seating garden and playground to start in June for 4 months. Depending on who--staff English from poor to quite good. Huge hotel but personal service, eg., bed turndown, weather report left on pillow.

Rooms are spacious and the location was fantastic - close to the subway and tourist attractions such as Tian'namen square, the Forbidden city and Wangfujing (shopping strip)! Highly recommended if you want to stay within walking distance to these attractions. The bed could have been more comfortable, but otherwise a great hotel if you're on a budget.
