Also, when I returned to Beijing for an extra day, after traveling to Mongolia, even though they thought the hotel was full, they made a special effort and were able to find me a room. The manager was fantastic!...

Great value hotel really close to the station and easy to get out and about to the main sites. Staff spoke good english and gave good information. The foreign exchange at the hotel is also at bank rates and no commission. Pleanty of supermarkets and fast food joints near to the hotel for breakfast. Would use again in the future.

Specially liked the location regarding it ckoseness to train and subway stations (Beijing station). Also to the Forbidden City, Tian An Men square and the temple of heaven, regarding touristic musts. Some ten minutes away, also, close to the heavens temple, there's a theater playing a Kung-Fu related traditional "legend" (already going for more than 2.800 auditions!).

If you want a reasonably priced hotel in a very central location, then this is perfect. I got a quite large twin room, quite spacious compared to some hotels. Bathroom was fine, bed was firm but not rock hard as some reviews of this hotel have mentioned. The staff at reception dealt with check in quite promptly and had a good understanding of English. Storing my luggage after checkout till I left Beijing that evening was not a problem. Right across the road from the Beijing Railway Station and the drop off/pickup point for the supercheap shuttle bus from the airport. Eay walk to Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Wanfujing St and Oriental Plaza ( which had a very good supermarket). Several convenience stores opposite hotel entrance for drinks etc. Many food places nearby including KFC and McDonalds.

This hotel is good value for the price. Room is reasonably large and clean. Location is very convenient. You can use trains, underground, trolley buses, etc. (By 103 trolley bus you can go to Wangfujing in 10 min., Old palace in 15 min.)

We,a family of 5 adults, stayed at the Harmony in early 2009. It was an excellent location - 2 mins to Main Station and a brisk 20min walk to Tiannamen Square. The staff were exceptionally helpful. We would recommend this hotel for any travellers looking for good budget accommodation.

The location of the hotel was good because it was near the railway station ang bus terminal. It was not very hard to get taxi also in the area. Outside the hotel, there are convenient stores which we can buy our daily necessities. The staff of the hotel, although not all of them can speak english, were nice and friendly.

The rooms were good and comfortable. Location excelent. The desk and room staff was very rude unlike in other hotels in Beijing were I stayed. Most disturbing was the fact that - upon departure - the staff refused to give me any proof or statement that I had stayed in the hotel for three nights since I had booked through a travel agency. Of course, I need an official receipt for my office which I do not have now. The travel agency, to make things worse, charged my credit card twice!!! I am still trying to get back my money.

I arrived at 9am after an overnight train journey and was surprised when I was able to check into my room rather than just leave my luggage until an afternoon checkin. The staff were very friendly and supplied me with an English map of Beijing on my arrival without even having to ask! The doorman would always hail a taxi for travel and explain to the driver where I wanted to go - which saved a lot of pointing and phrasebook usage! The hotel was very well situated, a few minutes walk from the main train station and subway line with all other ammenities and major attractions only minutes away. The inhouse tour service was excellent as well and I enjoyed a fabulous day at the great wall with an English speaking guide. I would rate this hotel highly and on any future trips to Beijing I wouldn't even look for other accommodation because this hotel would be my first port of call. No complaints at all. Jenny Morrison

We wish they would include breakfast with the room. The breakfast buffet was definitely not worth what they were charging - no fresh fruit, very limited selections. The hotel restaurant served poor food, as well. They were cleaning tables as we ate, set up for the morning while we ate dinner, and were banging around tables. We would recommend looking into another hotel...there were some with better location for similar price that would probably be a better option.

The use of the internet is too expensive. I heard other guests make the same comment. RMB1 per minute is the same as 5 star hotels charge. Other that that I enjoy staying at the Harmony and will use it again.

We really appreciated the extreme friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The hotel was a a deluxe version in miniature. Not alot of space, and people lounging everywhere. The most unpleasant aspects were I was expecting a tub and there was only a shower, as well as younger guests who were lounging and talking in our room hallway loudly. They also woke me up when they came in at 3:40 am. Also I booked, and was expecting a triple room and we received two twins with a rollaway pushed in at the last minute. They seemed unaware that my reservation requested a triple room.

spacious room. fridge. double bed on 7th floor. pretty quiet. staff were very friendly and their English was excellent. very close to central train station, also a nearby bus goes to the airport. the breakfast (not included) was very sub-standard and extremely expensive...not worth the effort. They also have a storage service for luggage if needed. Great option overall.

We like the location because it was near the rail station going to Shanghai, just about 10 minutes walk. There were many convenience stores nearby and restaurant too. But it was about 30 minute walk to Wangfujing and 15 minute walk to nearest bus station going to Silk Market. The hotel is clean and value for money.

Before I decide to book this place, I read abt it from a few websites, and true enuff most of the comments i read abt are what they are. It is easily accessible via airport shuttle bus - only 10 mins walk. or you can catch a Taxi, that is only abt RMB 90. Very near to Beijing Subway Station, less than 5 mins walk. Rooms are well furnished, spacious and very clean. It's a great place to stay if you intend to explore beijing on a budget and without going on tour. .. In short, I enjoyed my 6 days stay in beijing very much. =)

We stayed at this hotel twice on our trip and it is excellent value and merits it's 3 star rating. Walking distance from Tianemen Square and the Forbidden City as well as the Silk Market. I suspect one could walk to the Temple of Heaven and Pearl Market but we didn't try on this trip. Just a couple of minutes walk from the Beijing Railway Station (and subway lines) which was excellent when we arrived from Shanghai with our luggage. If you are planning to look for a budget hotel for the Olympics, you should consider this one. A la carte meals in the restaurant were well done but breakfast was only average and consistently lacked variety but it was filling and plentiful. There was some confusion about the price of breakfast, not included in our booking. Some mornings we were charged 30 yuan pp and others 45 yuan. There are plenty of other food outlets close by including KFC. Housekeeping was great and fast. We booked a deluxe room but didn't hear any complaints about the standard rooms. There are always areas where service can be improved but we appreciate that it is only 3 star and not top of the range. Notwithstanding that, it was above the standard of some of the other hotels we stayed in during our trip. One area that could be improved was the standard of English spoken by the staff. Some reception staff could not understand some of our requests although we eventually got what we needed. Staff were helpful within that limitation, particularly the doormen who obtained tax

Reception staff is very apathetic and bluntly told me to move to another hotel or sleep on the street. I booked a room in Harmony Hotel two months in advance, HotelTravel confirmed this hotel and debited my VISA card. On arrival in Beijing, my room had been given away, reception staff gave no explanation or apologies and then put me on a taxi to another hotel, which they claimed was an "upgrade". This hotel room was a dump of a place, dirty carpet, filthy furniture, little animals in the bathroom and smelly. This is what i ended up having booked the Harmony Hotel, which looked so nice on the web. HotelTravel.com completely failed to clarify or respond to my complaint.

This is not a high end hotel so if you are looking for a resort you will be disappointed but for the price you get exceptional service and above average quality. We really enjoyed the food (breakfast buffet and dinner) at this hotel. It was better than the neighboring restaurants we went to. The value and quality were ideal for our budgets and food preferences. Great coffee! The restaurant staff and front desk staff were extremely courteous and helpful whenever possible. We were soooo glad to have a sit-down toilet being from North America. The location was excellent as we had the subway and train station right outside our door and during cooler weather we could walk or take a short cab ride to all the tourist destinations in BeiJing. The staff helped arrange our tour to the Great Wall and we had a fabulous tour guide and a great experience. Thanks Harmony Hotel! We'll be back.

Excellent location. very short walk to metro (3 minutes to line 2, 10 minutes to line 1), or if you like walking only 30 minutes stroll to tiananmen square. Friendly and helpfull staff, even helped us to get to the less touristed MutianYu section of the great wall using public transport instead of the hotel's own tour. Room was good size. Only negatives was that our AC was barely working, and we had to pay an extra 50RMB per day to have internet in our room. Other than that we had a good time at the hotel, always enjoyed returning here to have a good rest after a long day of traveling Beijing and the sights around.

The hotel's location must be its' main drawing point. Conveniently sited near restaurants, convenience store and a shopping complex. The only drawback was the aircond in our room was not functioning as well as it should. Otherwise the stay was good and value for money. The english level of the reception staff was acceptable. My commendation must go out to the doormen who were always more than willing to go the extra mile to get a taxi for guests.

The hotel was ok at best. The staff was helpful. but getting a non-smoking queen size bed for two travellers with internet was not possible upon arrival. It appears only some of the rooms have internet, so make sure to call in advance and request one. It took three attempts to get a room that was non-smoking and we ended up with two twin beds after all. It seemed what the computer said was non-smoking and what was actually non-smoking were two different things. I was disappointed that it took 45 minutes to check-in, though it was close to Metro station (around the corner). No decent restaurants to speak of right around, but the hotel restaurant was good, albeit over-priced for the area. There was a KFC and McDonalds close by, as well as small markets for little items (not fresh vegetables or juices though, which is odd for China). The hotel was cheap, but the "three star" rating should really be two. Be warned- Star ratings are based on Chinese government regulations, not international standards, and are based on facilities, not actual ratings by consumers. It's just the way they do it.

I did not have the difficulty finding this hotel that some others had. I took the airport shuttle bus to Beijing Railway Station, and was at the hotel five minutes later. I was expected, and was welcomed by friendly staff.Check-in was quick and efficient. Although I only had a standard room, it was bigger than I expected and had some facilities not listed on the website. I asked for a quiet, non-smoking room on the 7th (top) floor, and that is exactly what I was given. There were tea-making facilities with free teabags every day, a fridge stocked with drinks, and with plenty of spare space, and a digital safe. The bathroom, like the rest of the room, was spotlessly clean, and was well stocked with towels, shampoo, shower gel, soap, shower caps, combs, toothbrush and paste, and glasses. These were renewed/made up daily as were the bedroom slippers. There was plenty of storage in the large wardrobe and the drawers, and a desk with writing materials and local information. A big digital TV had a full array of channels, including some english language ones. There were several attractive lamps around the room. I mention these, because some reviews have suggested the rooms were just 'basic'. After reading these prior to my visit, I thought I must have been upgraded! I had several breakfasts in the hotel, and the buffet was very good value at only 30 yuan a head. There was a good variety of Chinese and western food.I also had two lunches and a dinner, and these were good value too. I found it difficult to locate the hotel precisely on a map of Beijing before arrival. Staff were very helpful generally in that they spoke good English. Room very good. I did not find the staff so helpful when I wanted to confirm my flights. I did this myself by using the internet in the Business Centre - the staff could have done this.

With its convenient location fairly close to the Forbidden City and other attractions, Hotel Harmony offers its guests very good value for money. The rooms are clean and equipped with what you need, unless you are used to more luxury. The very friendly and always helpful staff is worth a special comment since they really made you feel at home. Due to the location on a small street, the hotel rooms are surprisingly quiet (this was at least the case of our room at the seventh floor). The restaurant could perhaps have been made more attractive (especially during the breakfast), but offered a variety of delicious dishes at dinner.

The Harmony Hotel's close proximity to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City was great! The hotel staff were very helpful in meeting our needs...such as ordering a pizza for us over the phone since we didn't speak Mandarin! They also provided careful assistance in getting forgotten parcels back to us. The business centre computers were slightly lacking in that the internet connection was very slow on one of them and another was not hooked up to a printer. This could be improved on. Because the hotel address seemed to be difficult for taxi drivers to find as it is not on a very frequented street, getting there was always a challenge. If the hotel's phone number could be placed on the website, along with it's name, address, and major buildings or sites nearby all written in Chinese characters, this would make it significantly more helpful for future guests. This information could be printed off and used when needed.
