The room was quite worn; the carpet extremely suspect. The beds, while quite firm were comfortable with the silk duvet covers. The restaurant was overpriced for the area and the offering. We went next door to the Home Inn ( a sister hotel) and enjoyed their morning buffet for one-quarter of the price and far superior. The hotel was soaked in years of accumulated cigarette smoke, but the room was relatively free of smoke pallor. The desk staff was most helpful and very eager to assist. The desk staff (concierge, currency desk, and the transportation coordination) were definitely worthwhile and appreciated. Close to public transportation and a 20-minute walk to Tiananmen Square. The area of the city was probably the least affluent neighborhood -- provided a glimpse into the city that might not have otherwise been possible.
