One of the busiest airports in Canada, Vancouver International Airport is a modern facility located close to the city centre. The three terminals handle over 15 million passengers every year and are served by most major airlines. Connections with the downtown area are straight-forward and reliable.

The excellent facilities include a good selection of shopping and dining options spread across the terminals, as well as a dental centre, spa and dry cleaning services. There are ATMs at various locations and other banking facilities and bureaux de change. Business travellers can take advantage of the facilities at the CDS Business Centre which include including PC workstations, internet access and fax and photocopying machines. There is also Wi-Fi internet access throughout the buildings. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel is located on-site and has conference and meeting rooms available.

The short term car park is located opposite the Domestic and International terminals, while the long term car parks are farther away and connected by a free 24-hour shuttle bus. All three terminals provide dedicated disabled parking spaces.

Transport to the city centre is easy to organise either by public transport or car. There is an airport shuttle bus, the Airporter, which runs every 15 minutes to the downtown area calling at the bus station, the cruise ship terminal and most of the major hotels. Scheduled bus services provide a greater choice of destinations both to the city and surrounding areas including Whistler, Langley, Vancouver Island and Seattle. The Expo Line and the newer Millennium Line provide access to several of the city's attractions and is probably the best way of getting around.

The bus network is operated by Translink and covers a huge area, including many of the nearby neighbourhoods. Most of the routes operate from 05:00 to 01:00. Services also conveniently link with the SkyTrain stations, providing access to destinations not covered by the light rail system. There are four main taxi operators in the city and they can be hailed on the street. Booking in advance is a good idea if you are travelling farther afield or at night time.

The passenger ferries care a good way of getting around and provide you with some fine views across the city skyline. SeaBus connects Vancouver with the North Shore, while BC Ferries’ Tsawwassen and Horseshoe Bay terminals have services to the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
