Airports

At just a 20-minute drive away, Jean Lesage International Airport is the closest air facility to Quebec City. This small, single-terminal airport offers mainly domestic flights but does have some charter services from London and Paris and both charter and scheduled flights from the US. The Canadian carrier Air Paris operates the majority of flights from the airport.

The airport terminal has a good selection of facilities for its size, including essentials such as ATMs, a bank and a bureau de change plus bars, restaurants and regular and duty-free shopping outlets. An information desk is also on hand for passenger queries and assistance.

Taxis provide the main option for ground transfers to the city; however, limousines are also available for anyone wanting to travel in style. Car hire companies are also on hand for passengers preferring to make their own way to the city.

Public Transport

Quebec City can be reached with relative ease by road from other Canadian cities and from the US. Autoroute 20 is the main highway to the city and connects with a variety of other major Canadian highways. The city can also be reached from across Canada and from the US by Greyhound bus services.

For transportation around the city, the Reseau de Transport de la Capitale bus service is a cheap and efficient option. The bus network covers all major sights and attractions and has terminals at Place Jacques Cartier (Lower Town) and St Jean Gate (Upper Town). Tickets can be bought onboard buses or from selected newsagents and grocery stores. Taxis are available and can be hailed in the street or hired from stands located outside hotels and other strategic locations. A funicular railway service connects the lower and upper town areas.
