Calgary Stampede
Dubbed the ‘greatest show on Earth’, the Calgary Stampede is a massive festival, exhibition and rodeo held every year for 10 days at the beginning of July. Calgary Zoo
The Calgary Zoo is the second largest animal park in Canada and of world-class standards with its amazing facilities built partially on St George’s Island, just east of downtown. Canada Olympic Park
Located just 15 minutes from downtown Calgary, the Canadian Olympic Park was the main showpiece for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games. The park now has numerous sporting activities to enjoy including: climbing, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, bobsleigh riding, trampoline jumping and even mini golf. There is also an Olympic hall of fame museum, but the highlight of any trip here is the elevator ride to the top of the ski jump tower, which has spectacular views of the city. Spaceport
Spaceport is a fantastic space exploration centre filled with hands-on exhibits, displays of authentic equipment and numerous simulators. The centre’s wind tunnels show how planes fly and the way in which they are controlled, and there are chances to sit in replica models of spacecrafts and see genuine pieces of moon rock. NASA has loaned some great artefacts to the centre, including space shuttle test models, the manual to MIR space station, real space food and the historic Bobby Orr hockey jersey that was worn in space.
