Visitors landing at Buzios Umberto Modiano Airport must first connect through one of Brazil’s international airports. Rio de Janeiro International Airport is the most accessible international hub. Larger hotels provide transfers from Rio de Janeiro to the resort.
The international airport at Rio is larger and much more comprehensive than Buzios’ smaller facility, offering expansive duty-free shopping, banking and business facilities, ample parking and several restaurants and bars. A connecting flight from here to Buzios takes around 30 minutes, while overland transport takes roughly two hours. From Buzios Umberto Modiano Airport, taxis are available to take you to your hotel.
It is also possible to transfer from Rio de Janeiro to Buzios via bus. Buzios’ bus station (phone: +55 22 2623 2050) is located on Estrada da Usina in the downtown district. Given the abundant hotel transfers available, taking the bus is an unattractive means of transportation.

City buses are available within Buzios for public transportation but taxis are the most popular means of getting around the city. A hire car is a convenient means of accessing some of the area’s more secluded beaches. Beyond local transportation needs, tourists are not advised to drive in Brazil.
