Bosnia-Herzegovina is a crossroads country. With remnants of its turbulent past, there is also an abundance of fascinating and attractive history, from stunning old mosques and monuments to amphitheatres and Catholic shrines. Perhaps most wonderful is the rebuilt bridge in Mostar, what used to be a pre-war ancient overpass. Now re-opened to the public, a walk across it inspires hope of new beginnings. The countryside varies from woodlands and mountains to rolling hills and a short Adriatic coastline.
