Barbados is easily navigated, with government buses servicing the island as well as numerous private coaches. Taxis are in abundance but do not have meters so make sure to agree on a price before your journey. Hiring a car and self-driving offers the freedom of exploring the island at your own leisure. The roads on the island are quite safe and well signposted. The airport sees flights arriving from the US, the UK and elsewhere in Europe on a daily basis.

The weather in Barbados is typical of the Caribbean with only two distinct seasons; the dry season and the wet season. Throughout the year temperatures are high, rarely dropping below 21°C. The island is blessed with cool northeast trade winds that make the high temperatures bearable. The dry season lasts from January until June with daily averages around 26°C.
The wet season is from late June through December. The temperature during the wet season can fluctuate with highs in the 40s (°C). The highest rainfall month is November with over 200 millimetres of rain not uncommon. During the wet season, holidaying in Barbados is still enjoyable as the rain generally comes in short and hard downfalls, leaving the majority of the day sunny and dry.
