Bahrain Introduction

Bahrain borderless island nation in the Persian Gulf situated between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Bahrain is relatively unknown, thus making it a unique place to visit. The islands are connected by an extensive road network 25 kilometres long which joins it with Saudi Arabia.
One of the charms of Bahrain is that it is a very open Islamic country, allowing people of other faiths to drink and eat what they want. Thus it offers a great advantage for people who want to travel to the Middle East, but are afraid to travel there for fear that they may not enjoy themselves as they would wish. The majority population of Bahrain speaks English, which helps make it easy for Westerners who visit. Bahrain also offers shopping centres and entertainment complexes, which are scattered around the islands.
Bahrain’s beaches are some of the most popular in the Middle East, as they offer a more tolerant atmosphere conducive to relaxation and fun-filled vacations. With 33 islands in its archipelago, one can only imagine the rich variety of choice for water sport and sunbathing enthusiasts, as Bahrain offers some of the best diving and resort accommodation in the Arab world.
Bahrain offers many kinds of accommodation in many different price ranges. Resorts offering 5 star amenities to fit the luxury lifestyle and hotels with comfortable rooms with budget-friendly rates are both readily available, with a wide range of choice. Bahrain offers a multicultural mix of ethnicities and religions, with people that are friendly and offer warm hospitality. Bahrain, while enjoying warmer weather in the summer, offers mild temperatures that draw tourist to it all winter long.

Bahrain is a group of islands in the Persian Gulf, nestled between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. It is largely unheard of by many travellers, making it somewhat of a hidden gem. The islands are connected to Saudi Arabia by the 16 mile long Bahrain-Saudi Causeway, the construction of which has helped to make Bahrain a leading Middle Eastern tourist destination.

It is probably fair to say that Bahrain is lacking in the manmade child-orientated activities that other countries have to offer; however, there are some attractions that will appeal to young ones should they tire of the hotel swimming pool. Manama’s modern facilities and shopping centres provide the most options, with everything from arcades to cinemas, while daytrips to the Tree of Life and the Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve are both educational and fun.

Eid ul Adha
Known as the Festival of Sacrifice in English, this festival marks the time of year when Muslims make the pilgrimage to Mecca. The event remembers the time when Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son, Ishmael, for God. As the story goes, Ishmael was saved and an animal was sacrificed in his place. Muslims across Bahrain sacrifice sheep, camels and cows at this time in a symbolic gesture.
