International Transport


Airport
Salzburg Airport or W. A. Mozart Airport is the second largest airport in Austria servicing Austrian Airline, Ryan and Niki. 

Salzburg International is a modern regional airport that is located 4 km (2.5 mi) from the centre of Salzburg and 2 km (1.2 mi) from the Austrian/German border. 

The airport’s terminal has all the amenities a traveller needs, such as ATMs, banks and currency exchange offices. Other facilities include restaurants, shopping and business facilities. The airport also house three travel agencies that are located in the check-in area.

Public transportation from the Salzburg International Airport is very good. There are transfer buses that offer daily transport from the airport to all of the major skiing regions in the Austrian Alps. Taking the train is another option. Journey time from the airport to the city by train is approximately 25 minutes.

Taxis
can be found at the airport right outside the terminal. The journey time from the airport to the city is approximately 15 minutes.


Public Transport


Bus
Salzburg's public transport system is efficient and very well-developed. The city bus travels to all of the city's major areas with clearly visible bus stops. The buses are also environmentally friendly.


Car
Salzburg is located at the hub of all European trade routes and is easily accessible by road. Salzburg a strongly frequented transit country as the Salzburg junction lies on the north/south and west/east axis of international traffic. Vienna and Linz have roads that lead directly to Salzburg. Car hire is available at the airport as well as in the city.


Train
Within walking distance to the city centre, the central train station has been integrated in the international railroad network with outstanding Eurocity, Intercity and Interregional connections. 

If you are travelling by train, it may be to your advantage to purchase a German Rail Pass. The Rail Pass system operates a network of 25,000 miles, where more than 33,000 trains transport more than 4 million passengers per day. You can purchase a 4 to 10 day pass and use and use it as often as you like. The pass is valid for travel to/from Salzburg (Austria) and Basel (Switzerland)

Taxis can be found at various taxi stands throughout the city or called by phone.
