In 1465 the Weisses Kreuz Hotel Innsbruck was first mentioned in the city chronicle and has since been a central figure in the town's history. From a stay by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to its use as an Allied Forces headquarters in 1945, this hotel is alive with the ghosts of the past. The Renaissance paintings that grace the walls and original antique decor add lustre to the hotel's exposed, wood-beam ceilings, stone pillars and hardwood floors. Its dream location in the heart of the old town makes this hotel an enchanting option.

This hotel indicates it started operation in 1547, and the area around it is the most historic and interesting part of Innsbruck, however that creates two problems- it is impossible to drive near to the hotel to unload luggage, (due to pedestrian walk ways and one way streets). Parking is 4 blocks away, so you must transport your own luggage from an underground parking garage, over cobble stone streets and brick walkways, through masses of tourists and university students. Those same tourists and students love to party outside the hotel until early morning, so human street noise is quite high. The building is well kept and charming inside, however some rooms are very small and cramped. Some bathroom arrangements are unconventional and take some adapting. If you want to immerse yourself in the Altstadt (Old City) of Innsbruck and be in the middle of the tourist area, but don't mind some minor inconveniences, this is the place to experience old world charm. If you demand the convenience - don't stay here.
