Situated on the banks of Western Australia’s Swan River, and just a short drive from popular beaches at the edge of the Indian Ocean, Perth and neighbouring Fremantle offer visitors a visually appealing and culturally diverse travel destination. Sporting events, arts and cultural festivals, and music and theatre fill the annual calendar of this city that is geographically removed from eastern Australia’s population centres by thousands of miles of bush.
Amusement parks, animal encounters, museums for kids and all sorts of outdoor activities are on offer for children visiting Western Australia with their parents. Many activities that are available in Fremantle and Perth are free of charge, and the wonderful climate in the region makes it possible to enjoy nature here year-round.

Australia Day Skyworks: celebrated on the 26th of January at the Swan River, this is typically the most popular event of Perth’s annual calendar. Skyworks brings more than 350,000 people every year to King's Park and the banks of the Swan River to watch the laser show and fireworks display at night. The fireworks are launched from a number of places, including city skyscrapers, Narrows Bridge, and from the Swan River and the Swan Bell Tower.
Many of the attractions of interest to visitors in the greater Perth area include historical structures from early European settlement including the Belltower, Deanery and the Mint. The picturesque harbour town of Fremantle draws tourists with its restaurants, shopping, views and charming pubs.

Perth's International Airport (PER) is located approximately 10 miles from the city. The less used Perth Domestic Airport is just over six miles from the centre. Both the international and domestic airports provide basic facilities for passengers for food, drink, banking and shopping.
