Playground was not of any use to our kids because it closes too early. Water in the pool was salty and not well heated. Hotel water pot was very dirty, check it before using. It is a walking distance to restaurants and shops.

This is a fantastic holiday destination probably best suited from for families with infants up to about 12 years. Its facilities were great and we needed for nothing. the resources we had at our fingertips with the discovery desk helping us with al our needs was also excellent. the rooms were neat and tidy and although nothing majorly glamourous were all we needed when most of the time we wanted to be out swimming anyway. if you want a peaceful holiday without children this definitiely is not the place for you, but if holidaying with children, parents are also given oportunity to relax. We are also planning our next trip next year and taking additional extended family.

Staff are nice and helpful but quite far to walk to city centre and also if the variety of breakfast was nearly same everyday. I hope the breakfast can provide more choice for people to choose.

The Zone 4 Kids club is exceptional at this hotel. Anyone traveling with children that would like some guilt and stress free time away from them should visit this hotel as the children actually beg to go to the kids club. The parents can go to the bar, restaurant or a short stroll into Surfers Paradise to visit the many venues. The Discovery Desk is a wealth of information regarding local attractions and make all the bookings for you. My only advise would be to ensure you specify a smoking or non-smoking room when you book.

This was a basic hotel to be used as a base which is close to public transport, shops and resturants. However the bar and lounge services were awful with only limited opening times.

Mercure hotel is an older hotel which is in need of a extensive makeover. The resort rooms need to have a double bed and two single beds. When I booked the room back in March 05 I spoke to the hotel and they advised that I would get a room overlooking the pool that was not the case when we arrived. Surely back in March they would not have been fully booked out then.
