We stayed at the Bay Village for 6 days, the hotel was clean and nicely decorated and all the staff were helpful and friendly. We stayed in a standard room which was on the small size but it didn't bother us as we weren't in the room for most of the time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Cairns. We were upgraded, without asking, to a superior room as the hotel wasn't full. The facilities were excellent. The main door closes at 11.30pm and you must gain access through a side gateway, using a passcode.
The complaint I would have is that the bar staff closed the bar, anytime after 10.00pm if numbers were low. The time of closing was unknown to guests and this meant that if you came back to the hotel after dining in town for a drink before retiring, it was likely you would be disappointed. Convenient location, within walking distance to downtown. Extremely friendly staff. A swimming pool and excellenet Indonesian restaurant on site. Good value for money. Clean with sufficient amenities. Powerful air-conditioning. On the edge of the city centre and is quiet in general. Good tour booking service and abundant information. Bali decor in room is very nice. Very competitive price. A HotelTravel.com Member, Spain
The hotel was quite nice. Free shuttle to airport was good, what we liked least was that towels for the swimming pool were rented per 1$ per day, I never saw this in any hotel before. James Hollomon, United States
We expected a non smoking room with a double bed. The first night we had a non smoking room with two twin beds. The second night that we booked, we were put into a smoking room that reeked of smoke and again had two twin beds. We were not happy about the rooms we had, and the staff said that as the hotel was fully booked, we could not change rooms on either night. The hotel was extremely noisy, and there were large groups that were arriving or departing at all hours of the night. One group left at 4AM and were very noisy with lots of door knocking and talking. I will never stay there again. For the price, we found this hotel a rip off. For a little more money, we stayed in a very nice hotel in Sydney, which was of a standard you would expect for that money in Australia. Colin Ralph, United Kingdom
The hotel was very quiet and friendly with a high level of cleanliness however the public areas were very small as was the pool. The rooms here large and spacious with a small bathroom and toilet. The on site menu in the restuarant was balinese only?which was a down side if you wanted more western food. the position was ideal with a 15 minute walk to the centre and 3 minutes to the bay front with a bus stop close by. I would call it a motel rather than a hotel and in my opinion suitable for short stays or a base for day trippers at a reasonale price. All the attractions were available to be booked at the front desk. Marnic Kielemoes , United States
Having stayed here for a few days we thought the staff were friendly and helpful. However I thought that the pool area was too cramped and there really wasn't enough space for more than about 6 people. Also we stayed here over Christmas and I thought it lacked atmosphere for that time of year. A HotelTravel.com Member, Japan
