Brisbane Forest Park
This expansive 71,000-acre parkland is just 20 minutes north of the city, offering a quick getaway into the forest. The range of environments open to exploration gives a good overview of Australia’s diverse natural world. Visitors can walk through a rainforest, to waterfalls and around the classic Aussie bushland. Aboriginal rock art is another highlight here, easily viewed along the amazing Aboriginal Art Trail. You’ll want to rent a car for this excursion, which makes for a wonderful day out in nature. Good Vibrations: music is the focus of this great summer festival in Brisbane. Three outdoor stages are set up in natural environments to create the best scene possible for the music. Two stages host live bands while the other is dedicated to DJ sets. The Riverstage and Botanic Gardens are the two venues for this extremely popular annual event.

City Botanic Gardens
Brisbane’s oldest park was first planted in 1825 with the intention of feeding the convicts at the penal colony. Today, it is home to some truly massive tropical trees, rainforest glades and plenty of other exotic plants found only in this part of the world. Head to Alice street, and you can’t miss them. These easily accessed gardens are the ideal shady place to walk and relax. Free guided walks are given Monday through Saturday, twice a day.

Brisbane International Airport is one of Australia’s main air travel hubs, handling dozens of daily flights from destinations across the country and around the world. About 20 international airlines provide regular service into Brisbane, including the national carrier Qantas which offers direct flights to North America and Europe. Passengers flying from other international destinations may have to fly into Sydney first and then catch a connecting flight to Brisbane.
