There is no public transport system in Ayers Rock, so if you’re not with a tour, you’ll need to hire a vehicle to see more than the centre. The centre is compact enough to get around on foot, and there’s a shuttle bus connecting all the hotels, running every 20 minutes until after midnight.

You can travel by bus or coach to Ayers Rock from a number of originating points in Australia. This can be a good option if you have lots of time and are looking for a trip through the outback but don’t particularly want to drive it yourself. Buses and coaches are comfortable and air-conditioned, and operate on regular and dependable schedules.
Travel by car or motor home to and around this area has been made easy due to the network of sealed roads found here. Beginning with the region’s main artery, the Stuart Highway, at least 95 per cent of all attractions of interest in this part of the country can be reached by sealed road.
A tour in a four-wheel-drive vehicle can be the ultimate in experiencing the raw beauty of the outback.
