New Years Day
People all across Argentina see in the New Year with parties, family gatherings and lots of alcohol and fireworks.

Gualeguaychu Carnival
Throughout the months of January and February, the town of Gualeguaychu hosts one of the biggest carnivals in Argentina. Festivities include giant parades, dancing, live music performances and feasting.

Buenos Aires Tango Festival
People from all across Argentina gather in its capital to celebrate the art of tango dancing. Performances are held across the city, as are classes and parties. It is a time to forget about your worries and dance the night away.

Tilcara Carnival Festival
This festival is a chance for villagers of Tilcara to thank the earth for all it has given. It is believed that the devil possesses the souls of people during Carnival and it is at this time that the normally shy people of Northern Argentina come to life. The festival lasts for nine days and ends with nine offerings to the earth, one for each day of the festivities. The devil is then put back in his hole and covered with rocks until the next year.

Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Film
This fesitival is a 10-day event celebrating the art of independent film making. Film producers from across the world meet at this annual event to promote and reward the most impressive selection of independent films.

Arte Buenos Aires- Contemporary Art Fair
The fair marks the beginning of the cultural season in the Argentine capital. Visitors will find an exhibition designed to bring high quality art to the public.

Independence Day
This important national holiday is marked with celebrations all across the country. Live music can be heard in every town and it is an opportunity for family gatherings and parties.

Buenos Aires World Tango Championships
In Buenos Aires, the birthplace of tango, dancers from around the world gather to compete for the title of world champion.

Semana Musical Llao Llao
This classical musical festival, held in the town of Bariloche, is a celebration of the art of classical music. Concerts are held throughout the town, while musicians from all around the world arrive in Bariloche to give solo and ensemble performances.

October
 

Oktoberfest Argentina
During the month of October, thousands of people from all across the world arrive in Cordoba province to take part in the incredibly popular annual Beer Festival. The festival lasts for five days, with festivities taking place in the beer garden, a venue especially designed for the occasion. Several litres of beer, served in giant German mugs, are drunk throughout the five days.

Buenos Aires Gay Pride
Buenos Aires is regarded as a ‘gay Mecca’ by many Latin Americans. The city is home to a thriving gay community, with many bars, clubs and other social venues open to everyone. Thousands take to the streets for the annual parade.

December
 

Christmas
Christmas celebrations are like many other countries, with church services, gift-giving, feasts and fireworks. Christmas is in the middle of Argentina’s summer, so picnics are not uncommon on Christmas Day. Whatever festivities people choose to partake in, it is always with the family, as Christmas in Argentina is the time for families and loved ones.
