Star Ratings :   Location : Central   Rooms :  151
The Castelar in Buenos Aires is left untouched by time, with a long illustrious history that makes it the first choice of the Argentinian elite. Located in Buenos Aires' historic centre on the Avenida de Mayo, the Castelar provides the same prestigious service today that satisfied Frederico Garcia Lorca during his year long stay. Choose from among the hotel's cosy rooms, and relax in the famed Turkish baths after a long day of sightseeing. The Castelar has something for everyone.

The Castelar has several significant "pluses". It is centrally situated and within easy reach of bars, restaurants and shops. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean and the bar/restaurant facilities inside the hotel are good. Most important, however, is its character; it retains the charm and elegance that it had when first built in the early part of the 20th century. Some of these features have faded somewhat over time but this, if anything, only adds to the atmosphere. The facade of the hotel, the lobby and the downstairs bar and restaurant are all splendid, and the Spa, which is found in the basement, both adds to the facilities on offer and to the "other-world" ambience. The hotel is not pristine nor does it have "all mod cons". Anyone wanting these would be better off choosing a modern 5-star hotel. If you'd enjoy comfort and an insight into what staying in Buenos Aires might have been like eighty years ago, then the Castelar is an ideal choice.
